And it led to our two stage trauma – the military coup d’etat and civil war. This is not the place to argue at length that if there had been no military rule there would never have been a civil war. The trauma of the military government and the civil war still haunts us and we must somehow domesticate it and use it for our good. Within the logic of the civil war, it made sense to cut up the regions in order to undermine the power of Biafra. If we stop for a minute and consider the crimes that we are witnessing today in Nigeria, they are worse than what happened to us during the civil war.
